I like your comments, you see the big picture, from BOTH sides and don’t buy into the hysteria of either.Although, my guess is that IF the South had won, slavery would have ended by 1875 and they probably would have rejoined the Union on more “user friendly” terms.Of course, that’s just my guess, no one will ever know.
Why do the Irish criticise America? Because we ARE America and we love it despite it’s faults and failings. We feel we are entitled to comment and pass judgement on a great country that we have been part of from the start. The US has given so much good to the world and has shown far positive than negative and that should NEVER be forgotten.
IHATECRACKAZ: learn your history, the vast majority of men who fought for the south were poor farmers who owned ZERO slaves. And it was mostly “crackaz” who fought for the north and won the war. They were fighting for a cause. TEXCONFED: Call it the war of northern aggression if you’d like, but don’t forget the fact that it was the SOUTH, not the North, who fired the first shots of the war. I sympathize with the south but thank god they did not win and the union prevailed.
Our strength as a nation today lays upon the fact that we are massive union made up of many states and their people who fought and continue to fight today to keep this nation strong and free. We would not be nearly the country we are today if we were in fact two separate countries which is what would’ve happened if the Confederacy had won.
Yes and you should consider shuting up unless you know your facts you are correct about the 300,000 people dieing, but the North was just way more industrialized and more powerful than the South, What the South considered a heavy loss for the North the North considered it nothing, due to the North’s size being twice the size of the South. The North simply sent for men into battle, which is why they lost so much, to the South that is.
Read the declarations by the seceding states:South Carolina: “Slavery”Georgia: “Slavery”Mississippi: “Slavery”Texas: “Slavery”If there was something else, they would have mentioned it. They didn’t.

Only 6% of Southerners owned slaves. So what were the other 94% fighting for?
